Hello, my name is Alikhan and i would like to improve my writing skills. My problem is that sometimes i don't know what preposition to use when writing. It realy confuses me. I have tried to memorize certain words with prepositions and where to use them, but in practice it gets difficult for me. I hope you can help me with that.

Hello Goodatenglish,

I'm not sure how I can help you, I'm afraid! It really is a case of familiarisation and memorisation, with plenty of practice to help. I can direct you to some useful pages:

verbs & prepositions

adjectives & prepositions

verb patterns (use the links on the page)

verbs followed by to + infinitive

verbs followed by -ing clauses

verbs followed by that clauses

I hope those links are helpful.

Best wishes,

Peter

Hello
I am into English studies and i am preparing myself to take essay writing exam at one of the prestigious universities but due to having so much of tension i don't know how to keep myself on the track , please bless me with your suggestions and pieces of advise , i am looking forward to having your prompt reply.

Hello Mmansouri,

I'm not sure we are the best people to give you advice on this! It's not really a language question, which is our area of expertise, but rather a question of how to cope with stress. I would suggest that you discuss the issue with someone who knows you and can give you the support and advice you need. Perhaps your university has a counsellor who can provide help, or else you might talk to one of your teachers who you feel closest to. I think it's important that the advice you get is individual, and so it should be from someone who knows you, your situation and your environment.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Peter
