Hello lina,

I would recommend that you read two things. The first is our Frequently asked questions page, where you can find advice on how to use LearnEnglish to improve your speaking and vocabulary (which will help your reading). The other is our Facebook page, where there are all kinds of useful ideas for improving your English.

I hope this helps you. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask us.

i wan to ask in my computer i have checked british grammar for auto correct.
when i write;
Why are red books and blue bottles kept here?
the auto correct changes it to ;
why red books and blue bottles are kept here?
can you tell me which one is correct?

Hello Farhat Zakir,

'Why are red books and blue bottles kept here?' is perfectly fine, whereas 'why red books and blue bottles are kept here?' is incorrect.

I recommend using your computer only for spellchecking, not grammar!

Best wishes,

Dear

Sir can you tell me how to improve writing skills such as developing and organizing ideas .

Hello Rind.aziz,

If possible, I'd suggest you find a teacher to help you with this; it's probably the most effective way to learn this skill. If not, below is one suggestion you could follow, but please know there are many ways to do this.

Before you write, think about what you want to say. You could, for example, make a list of several different reasons that support what you are saying. Then choose the two or three that are the most important. Then think about an example that shows why each of those two or three ideas are important. You now have a plan for your writing and can develop these ideas in your composition.

I can't see any of the questions or exercises in the task box when I click on it. Just instructions. I'm on a managed desktop. Is that the reason or is there another possibly?

Hello dinahward,

I think it's more likely a browser issue. Are you by chance using Firefox? We've found that the exercises don't display in Firefox and are working to fix this, but in the meantime, I'd suggest you try a different browser. If that doesn't work, please let us know what operating system you use and what version of what browser you are using. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Best wishes,

dear sir
can you suggest me the steps of improving writing skills.

vikram

Hello vikram88,

You can find tips and suggestions on how to improve writing on our Help page, and you can find more specific work on academic writing in this section. Beyond that, it really depends on what you want to write: writing creative fiction is very different from writing formal letters, for example. The best advice I can give is to read as much as possible and to look for models and samples of the kind of writing you wish to do, from which you can take phrases and examples of how to organise the text. These are the most useful things you can do, in my opinion.

Best wishes,

Peter
