Hi LearnEnglish Team,

Today I have registered it. I hope I would get some help from you to learn English language.

Thanks
Syed yezdani

Hello Syed,

Welcome to LearnEnglish! There are lots of resources here, and I'd encourage you to look through the different sections to get an idea of the possibilities.

Or, if you already know, for example, that you want to work on your listening or speaking, I'd suggest listening to our audio and video materials (there are several sections under Listen & Watch). There are transcripts and exercises to help you improve your listening comprehension, and you can use the audio as a model that you can imitate to learn new expressions and improve your pronunciation.

Whatever you do, it's best to try to have contact with English every day, even if it's only for a short time. Little by little, you should see that you improve!

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Kirk

Hi every body,I am a new member here,,I have alot of troubles with english esp speaking I do alot of grammatic mistakes sometimes I can not express my self or I find difficulties and feel embarrassment when I talk with native speaker ..I am looking forward to improve my english, please correct me If wrote down mistakes..thanks

Hi mariom,

The first thing I'd recommend is that you ignore your embarrassment when speaking with native speakers. Learning to speak another language can be really difficult, and in any case, takes time, so you must be patient with yourself and try as hard as you can.

Another thing that I think could be very useful for you is to use some of the materials in our Listen & Watch section to improve your listening comprehension (which is of course essential in speaking) and to learn new expressions and improve your vocabulary. I'd recommend you choose either the Elementary Podcasts or Big City Small World. Listen to an episode once or twice, and then listen to it again while reading the transcript. Work through the exercises, and then identify a few words and/or expressions that you want to learn. Imitate the pronunciation you hear (this means you must talk to yourself!) repeatedly over the course of several days. Gradually, you will increase your vocabulary, your mouth will become used to making different sounds, and your speaking ability should improve!

I am a new comer for this site and i hope i will enjoy it.my first question is going to be :how can i improve my listening as well as speaking fluency as the foreign. It is my pleasure if you can tell websites or any other means to improve or solve my problem.finally, i hope you can show me the way.thank you.

Hello mekelle english,

Welcome to LearnEnglish - there are a lot of resources here and I'm quite confident that you'll find something that will help you improve your English.

For both listening and speaking, I would recommend our audio and video materials, most of which are found under Listen & Watch. These range from articles about different topics in the Magazine to a serial audio drama about a group of friends in London called Big City Small World to a video series about using English in different situations called Word on the Street. If none of those interest you, I'd encourage you to keep looking, because there's a lot more there!

With all of this content, I'd suggest you first listen to an episode once or twice to try to understand the general meaning. Then you could listen to them while reading the transcript to understand them better. Many of these sections also have exercises to help you see how well you've understood. (And if you like exercises, then I'd also recommend the Elementary Podcasts, which have a lot of great exercises.) This should all help you with your listening comprehension.

As you listen, take note of phrases and expressions that you like or think are important, and imitate their pronunciation. Our mouths need practice to get used to making different sounds, so repeated practice can really help. And as you practice, you will also gain confidence and fluency, which are really important when the time comes to actually speak English with others.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Kirk
