Hi maurello,

If you look a little further down the page you'll see an answer from Kirk to Sari. I think what Kirk says in that answer is also good advice for you!

Best wishes,

Hello Sari,

You're very welcome here! I'd suggest you explore the site a little using the menu at the top (Home, Listen & Watch, etc.) and that you read our Help page, which offers some practical advice on how to make the most of LearnEnglish. And any time you have a question, please ask it in the comments section on a page.

All the best,

sir, does I am afraid mean I am sorry?

Hi Krishna,

If you look up 'I'm afraid' in the dictionary search box at the bottom of this page - be sure to scroll down to where it says 'I'm afraid' in big green letters - you can see an explanation and example of what it means.

All the best,
Kirk

sir, please improve my application, if necessary:
sir
with due respect I beg to inform you that I, Krishna Adhikary, an assistant teacher of your school, shall go to malda[S.S.C Regional Office] on 24th of April, 2015 to collect my TET Qualified Certificate. So I shall not be able to attend my duties in school from 23rd to 24th instant.
I, therefore, request you to grant me C.L for these two days.
Thanking you
yours faithfully
Krishna Adhikary

Hello Krishna,

I'm afraid we don't provide feedback on users' writing - we are too small a team with too much other work to be able to do this. I can say that I understand your text with no problem.

All the best,
Kirk

which one of these is right "in school" "at school"?

Hi Krishna,

That really depends on what you mean. 'in' is used to indicate location in general, but we often say 'at school' when we're not thinking so much of the physical place as much as what one is doing at school, i.e. studying.

Best wishes,
Kirk
