Hello everyone. I was one time in London, 3 years ago, and I think that is a beautiful city. It´s very clean, and organized, I really like it. I went to a lot of places, the Big Ban, the London Eye, the Tate Modern, the Madame Tussauds, the Tower Bridge (beautiful), The Saint Paul Cathedral and the Buckigham Palace, outside of course. I would like come back to London, maybe some day, and take my son.

hello teacher,

in the above exercise it is written: The first clock tower at the place of Westminster WAS BUILT in 1288.
My question it is not correct if we say :the first clock tower at the place of Westminster BUILT in 1288.
because we are talking about a specific time in the past so we use simple past.

Hello ziadakoum,

Both 'was built' and 'built' are simple past forms. 'Was built' is passive voice. We could say 'People built the tower' or 'The tower was built', and the latter is better here.

Best wishes,

Peter

hi~I'm kitty from China .Now I'm preparing for IELTS exam and will take one on next month. But I find it hard to answer all the reading questions .Any tips for that?@.@

Hello again kitty,

I'd give you the same advice as before - there you can find information on the reading section and advice on how to prepare for it. On the IELTS, it's always to your advantage to answer the questions, even if you're not sure or don't have time, because you are not penalised for incorrect answers.

And in general, try to read as often as you can. Even if you can only spend 10 minutes per day reading in English, do that. Over the course of a month, you will certainly learn some good vocabulary that could really help you on the exam.

Good luck!

Best wishes,
Kirk
