An infographic on the forgetting curve
Do the preparation task first. Then read the text and do the exercises.
Preparation
In 1885, Hermann Ebbinghaus studied his own memory. He wanted to know how quickly he forgot new information. He gave himself tests after different periods of time to see how much he forgot each time. The result is called The Forgetting Curve.

[1] We forget the fastest in the first 24 hours.
[2] And then we forget more and more but the speed slows down over time.
[3] After about six days, we have forgotten most of the new information.
[4] If we revise the information …
[5] ... we make the memory stronger and we slow down the speed of forgetting.
[6] If we revise again and again, we can leave longer and longer periods of time between revisions.
Time is not the only thing that makes us forget something. If we are tired or under stress, we forget faster. If the information was difficult to understand we will forget it faster too. But things that are very important or meaningful to us are easier to remember.
Well, recently i use a notebook on my phone in general.
When it comes to studying i do not prefer to write a lot so i just read the new information and understand it very well either by myself or by using any AI tools to helping me and then i explain it loudly like i explain it to someone.
Absolutely, the review helps you remember, but if you don't use the information for a long time, you will still forget it. So for me, the best way to remember is through use. Sometimes I just explain the information to another person so I can keep it in mind. And if you use the new information in your work, it's the best way.
:)
very bad
I have a specific relationship with my memory because I feel like I have a very poor memory. I have problems remembering the names of people I meet, for example at work or at social events like parties.
That’s why I think my vocabulary is limited, even though I learn new words all the time. Maybe I’m doing it the wrong way? I hope this article will help me understand why this happens and how I can improve the situation.
I have the same issue. I can go into the hospital for example and be introduced to the anaesthesiologist, the nurse who will look after me and maybe two or three other people such as the doctor performing the procedure and I will forget all their names. I have to hear a name several times to remember it.
Same thing in new courses. I'll even forget the tutors name until I get used to it
It is very difficult to remember everything above all if you are studies a new language or other things, for that I revising and writing new words to make it easy to remember.
I revise that off and on whatever I have learned. I myself create different types of questions on the same topic and try to answer all of them. I don't know if there's any other way of remembering things. But as you said revision makes you forget something slower. So I follow the same technique.
Firstly, I have to understand the information well, after that summarize them in my own words, using graphs, mind maps, and mnemonics is very helpful.
Secondly, review information in a spaced periods is a very important thing and this technique called spaced repetition.
Finally, trying to recall the information using flash cards, solve problems, or answer questions, and this technique called active recall.
I hope to do all of these tips, but I'm really very lazy to do all of these stuffs.
What do I do to remember things?
Well, I write a numbered to-do list on a sticky note and put it somewhere I can see easily. I cross off the tasks I’ve completed. I also use the reminders on my phone for important things. When I don’t have paper with me, I ask my partner or my son to remind me later.
