A travel guide
Do the preparation task first. Then read the text and do the exercises.
Preparation
Whether you're travelling to the islands or the mountains of Thailand, you're likely to spend at least one night in its capital city on the way. Bangkok might be noisy and polluted but it's also an exciting city with plenty of things to see and do. Why not make it a longer stay?
Where to stay
The Khao San Road was a famous traveller spot even before Leonardo di Caprio's character in the film The Beach stayed there. But it's noisy, not very pretty and not very Thai. For something more authentic, Phra Kanong offers an alternative place to stay, with its fantastic street markets where everyday Bangkok people eat, work and live. It's not as convenient for the main tourist sites, but it has a Skytrain station so you can be at the Grand Palace in 20 minutes.
How to get around
Bangkok's traffic can be a nightmare. Sure, you can easily take a taxi – if you want to spend hours stuck in traffic jams – but there are two much better ways to get around the city. To explore the temples and historical sites, catch an express boat river taxi or a longtail boat along the Chao Phraya river and the canals. For the modern part of the city, the Skytrain is a fast, cheap way to travel from the river to the shopping malls and nightlife of Sukhumvit, and the famous Chatuchak street market.
Where to eat
The simple answer is: everywhere! Thai street food is among the best in the world, and for around $5 you can eat a filling and delicious meal. Some food stands have little plastic seats where you can sit and eat and they cook the same dish over and over, like fried chicken on rice or Pad Thai noodles. Head for Chinatown – Yaowarat Street – and choose whatever looks most interesting from the many excellent Chinese and Thai restaurants and food stands.
What to do
After you've seen the main sites like the Giant Buddha at the temple of Wat Pho and the spectacular Grand Palace, and shopped at Chatuchak market, check out the snake farm and watch the live snake show. You can even touch a snake yourself if you want to!
Yes, I would like to visit Bangkok because it has a mix of culture, history, and modern life. I want to see the temples and try the street food.
Sometime I love to live in BKK. It's really convince or living and working freelance or remote job.But in my opinion, not all the time.Because it's really crowded and noisy. And also it is the traffic jams are nightmare for me.Because I'm always go around the city and sometimes I've a meeting to meet with my friends and colleagues. At that time,If I got the traffic jams,I really wanna cry 😭.But what a relief,we have a skytrain to choose as an another option.Even though BKK is one of the modern city in Asia,If you wanna live peaceful and slow life in Thailand, you should choose some of the countryside cities like Chiain Mai.And if you like beaches, you can choose various kind of islands and beaches like Ko Samui, Ko Phangan and Puu Khat.At the end I love to live in Thailand but I don't like to live in BKK. It is really crowded for me.
I was in Bangkok in 2023 and spent most of my time on the islands. They were beautiful, but the food was spicy.
I would certainly like to visit Bangkok one day. I love the cities with a food culture, full of new experiences, and one that would make you wonder along the road, specifically the river taxi experience, since it is hard to live that one in Jordan, where I live. The other things that would excite me are experiencing the nightlife in the city, since Bangkok is a crowded city, it would be full of life and people who came to enjoy their time, and I do love people and the city lights
i would be very happy to visit bangkok , even if it's a crowded city, because i love to know differents cultures and foods.
In my opinion, Bangkok is crowded, noisy and populated. There are other places that are greater to visit in Thailand than Bangkok. However, Bangkok is developed city. Moreover, it is either full of happiness such as nightlife, bars, shopping centers or rich in traditions and cultural heritage. So, many tourists come to visit there in every second. Although Bangkok is good site to visit for others, I would not like to visit there. My reason is simple. I don’t like crowded places because it is polluted, I think. And I prefer to visit the peaceful countryside to the active city. If I have had chance for several times, I would have always chosen the countryside, not Bangkok or other cities.
i would be very happy to visit bangkok , even if it's a crowded city . it seems very different than other cities , for that reason i am looking forward to discover it.
I don't think so. It's a crowded and noisy city. If I have the opportunity to travel abroad, I will visit Turkey. It is my dream city. It is such a splendid city, with its fantastic and amazing views and places.
