How many points can you get in three minutes? Longer words score more points!

Playing Rules

You are given a random assortment of 16 letters in a 4x4 grid and are set a time limit of 3 minutes. In that time you must spell as many words as possible. The words, of course must be real words, spelt correctly as checked against the word list of 52,000 words and must contain between 3 and 7 letters. A letter cannot be used twice in the same word.

When forming your word, you can select letters from any position as long as you follow the spelling order.

Scoring

Points are awarded depending on the number of letters in the word (the "Qu" cube counts as two letters).

3 letters = 1 point4 letters = 2 points5 letters = 3 points
6 letters = 4 points7 letters = 7 points

71, here. Letters didn't help so much this time; who can make words when you have three 'Y'?

I'll try again later.

It totally depends on which letters you get! My results ranged from 10 to 60. I noticed that it was allowed to use the same word in both singular and plural forms (toy / toys), as well as irregular verb forms like meet and met.

"All I want for Christmaaas, is... an update for this game, recognising words like true, actually scoring correctly according to the number of letters per word". British Council Santa, is this too much to ask?

Hello Anna,

I'll see if I can get a message through to the elves. I suspect they'll be a little stubborn about changing the rules of the game, but with some luck, perhaps the word list could be updated in the new year.

Best wishes

47 for the first try after signing in. Not bad, but I've been better. My highest record up to now is 122
