About your learning
- How can I check my English level?
Our online level test will give you an approximate indication of your English proficiency level.
You can use the result to help you find free resources on our website that are appropriate for your English language ability.
You can find out more about the different CEFR English levels here.
- How can I measure my progress?
On LearnEnglish, our free resources have interactive exercises that give feedback to show right and wrong answers and give a score.
To measure your progress, we recommend our live online classes. As you work through the course, you have the option to take assessments and get digital badges, which you can download or share with your network via LinkedIn, Whatsapp, Facebook or Twitter. Badges are a great way to track your progress and to collect milestones on your English learning journey!
- How can I get a certificate?
We don’t have certificates for our free resources. Our live online classes offer certificates which include the total number of hours you studied and at which CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level. There is no final examination necessary to obtain a certificate. You can share your certificate on your LinkedIn page or download it to your device for personal use.

- How can I improve my speaking and pronunciation?
On LearnEnglish you can watch our series of videos in our speaking skills section to practise your speaking skills. You can improve your speaking by noticing the language we use in different situations and practising useful phrases.
However, to really put your English speaking into practice you need to speak to other learners and ideally to a teacher who can correct your mistakes and advise you on how to improve your speaking and pronunciation. Our live online classes offer exposure to different accents which is essential in a world where English is spoken by millions of people from different countries. We think this is the best way for our students to be better prepared to deal with real-life situations.
- How can I improve my writing?
On LearnEnglish you can find activities to practise your writing skills. You can improve your writing by understanding model texts and how they're structured.
