Meet Magda Gorzynski who comes from Poland and is a student in London.
Do the Preparation task first. Then listen to the audio. Next go to each Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the Transcript at any time.
When you introduce yourself, it is common that you might say a bit about your normal routine. When Magda introduces herself, she uses words like ‘sometimes’ and ‘often’ when she talks about things she does. These words are adverbs and they are used to say how often we do things.
hy,
how can I stop the video at the episode meet magda? it starts instantly and there's not button to stop it, and the voice in the video is distorted, I prefer the podcast.
thank you
I'm afraid the page is designed as an animation and automatically plays on loading. Once it has finished you can use the audio player above the exercises to play and pause the audio just as with the podcast, but there is no way to stop the animation on first load.
It seems easier to understand these audios, but it's so hard to understand people talking in movies and tv shows. In real life people talk more like in movies, right?
The materials on LearnEnglish are mainly designed for English language learners, while still being examples of very authentic English. The language in films and TV shows assumes that the audience speaks perfect English, and so is often harder in terms of speed and the language used. The language in films and TV shows is often also quite specific in terms of topic and may include slang and dialect, which also makes it harder. Watching films in English with English subtitles can be very helpful, I think.

hi! what time is it ? I’ve been living in London for two years now.
Thank you!
Ha-ha, I think sometimes magda's accent sounds like the same as Carolina's. I enjoy it a lot. :-D
