Hello Debbybb,

Some words, like 'news', just don't have a singular form. Since 'news' is only an uncount noun, we say something like 'a piece of news', or, probably more commonly, just say 'that's some good news!'.

Many other words, like 'water' exists as both count and uncount nouns. When we speak about the substance H2O, it's generally uncount, whereas when we speak about a bottle of water, the water from a particular source or water of a particular type, it's often used as a count noun.

You can find the difference between 'people' as a plural noun and 'people' as a singular count noun in the dictionary – please look it up and read all of the entries, as it is quite clearly explained there.

Good luck!

All the best,
Kirk

Thank you

Hi!Help me, please. I can't access series 2 from my mobile. The button for choose the number of series is missing from the menu. It give me only the most popular episodes, not the next after this one. So, I'm studying the fourth episode from the second series but I can't use my smartphone.

Hello Incy Wincy,

Are you using the LearnEnglish App or accessing via a browser?

I'm using a browser. Since last year I hadn't problems to navigate on site. I made a pause and when I came back the site has a new look....You think my Android is too old? It is an 2.3.6....

Hello Incy Wincy,

I'm no expert on phones, I'm afraid! I know that different browswers can be used on Android phones, so I suggest you try an alternative to see if it helps. It does appear to be a local compatibility issue, which we can't deal with on the site.

I'll post direct links to each episode of Series 2 below. At least you'll be able to access them from this reply, though I urge you to try an alternative browser first.

Thank you, Peter. The link is very useful for me. The good news after our conversation is that I'm going to buy a new phone, so it will be a pleasure to continue the lessons.

For 4 days I had been sick. I got fever and cold. Last night I didn't get fever and cold anymore but still feel weak. And today I got news that I will start to work next week. Yippie. Always something good behind problem or sickness :)
Now I have own believing that if I'm sick, it means I will get a good things. So I will thankfull in everything.

Hello teachers,
I really want to know the mean of "What a shame"
Thanks a lot :)

Hello kimchi94,

I'd recommend you look up 'shame' in the dictionary. Note that you can use the Cambridge Dictionaries Online search box on the right side of this page – the first definition and example will help you, I think.
