Hello VoHoangHuan,

Ravi says 'you should have called' instead of 'you should call' because he is talking about the past. Saying 'you should call' is not wrong, but refers to the present or future instead of the past.

This is one of the uses of a modal verb + have. If you follow the link, you'll see a short explanation and other examples. I think that should clarify it for you, but if you have any other questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask us.

hi,
i would like to do a lot to save planet but i don't know what all i can do exactly. i usually use paper bags instead of plastci bags, i bay and cook ecological food not too much transformed, for cleaning and sanitizing, i use vinegar, baking soda, salt...and to chase cafars and mosquitoes i use black pepper and essential oils or aromatic plants. i love the natural and i believe on.

How green are you? What do you do to help save the planet?

I really love plants so much. When they are small, they are as babies. They looks cute. It makes me interseted in looking at them. When they are all grow up, they give me foods. I feel that plants are very kind to being human. They should been taken care as your a close friend. To save the planet, we should grow as many plants as you can, the plants can do best to help the planet. Plants give us foods, fresh air, relax and prevent from the floods, winds to protect our life. If you really love plants, let them be with you and take care them better as they've made best things for our life, planet. I think it's a way to save the planet. Another side of saving the planet is using the supplies more useful, economical. Recycle every things that you can use for new purpose.

"Tess: Yes! Well done Jodie. And bad luck Will. Jodie wins this week’s LearnEnglish book token to buy any book you want. What kind of book are you going to buy Jodie?

Jodie: Oh, I don’t know. I’ll have to think. Probably like, a novel or something.

Tess: OK, well enjoy it, whatever it is – the book token will be in the post on its way to you today."

That is extract from transcript. Could you tell me how Jodie get his book token? I'm confused what Tess means in the sentence "the book token will be in the post on its way to you today."
I nocited "its way", what it means ?
what's its function?

Hello mityg,

Jodie will get the book token as a letter or a package. That's what 'in the post' means.

We say something is 'on its way' when it has begun a journey but not finished it. A person who is going somewhere but has not yet arrived is 'on their way'. A parcel sent to you which you have not yet received is 'on its way'.

Hi Learn English team,

I have a question in the next three sentences extracted in Section 5 – Your turn.

"do" was followed by different items,like"more","much"...
Could you let me know what are the differences among them?

voice 1: I really have to try to do more.
voice 2: we don’t do much else.
Voice 3: I do as much as I can.

Hi Wuwu,

'do' is an extremely versatile word and so there are many different phrases and constructions that can follow it. 'do more' seems to mean 'do more actions' or 'make more efforts' here. 'much else' basically means 'only a little bit more' or 'we will do mostly that'. 'as much as I can' means 'everything that I can do'.

I hope this helps. If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to explain to us what you understand -- we will be better able to explain things to you that way.

All the best,
Kirk

Hi Learning English Team!
Kirk, my late thanks for your reply.

My comment to Section 5: Your turn.
I think that main sourse of our planet pollution the hunan activities is. Because of that all people including me are responsible to care about our common home with a name Earth. Personally I collect papers, glass, metal, batterries and other stuff for recycling, take a part in litter collection in our local park and a coast of river. For shopping I take reusable bags. Besides that I use a one car with my colleagues to get to the job. I am sure that is not enough for our planet and I should to think about it more.

Dear team,
could you assess this paragraph regarding with Task achievement, Coherence and Cohesion and grammatical accuracy.
thanks,
Anton

I would like to meet Kateryna Saevska - an Ukrainian artist. She is not a professional artist althought she like to draw all her life. And maybe her paintings are not so amazing, but that is not the question. She sell her paintings and gives half of the amount to charity many years. After the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 there are many people with cancer. Treatment is very expensive but our country not very rich and people often have not money for it. It's especially terrible when kids get sick (((( And it give hope when such people as Kateryna - not politicians, not celebrities - try to help someone.
I think Kateryna is very bright and inspiring person so I would be very pleased to talk with her.
