Thanks for your nice words about LearnEnglish.
It's hard to say what the 'basic rules of English' are. That's really what this site is about! Have you seen our grammar section?
Best wishes,
The LearnEnglish Team

I'm sorry i want to say let us know about basic grammars i have seen grammars section but i want detailed explanation not brief
I mean i can understand when i listen to English language  but i can't speak well because i don't know the grammar

Hello Salma,
Our English Grammar for learners contains over 100 pages, so I'm not sure I would call it brief! Of course, there are some much longer grammars; I have one on the bookshelf behind me which is over 600 pages long. If you want something like that, then I think you will probably have to buy it in book format.
Best wishes,
The LearnEnglish Team

Hi everybody, I´m from Colombia, this is an amazing website, I have learned a lot of English and even I have told my Colombian friends to visit this webpage to improve their English, I listen to every podcast from Tess and Robby, as Big City small world and word on the street as well.
Cheers for letting me be one of your members, blessings....

To my mind, politness depends on your education and your age.
If your parents thought you the basis of politness, altough you can forget some rules, when you need to be polite (meeting an employeer), you remember your parent's advices and use them.
Everybody can forgive a young person, who is impolite, because knowing basis is not enough... But to me, it is harder to forgive an older one.
Watching other people can give us the keys to be more polite, but it can also show what is totally rude !
In France, I've already meet people of various ages being impolite or not, and especially in the subway around 9 a.m !

sure British people more polite but it does not mean other are not
but its individual variation

hi i spend very nice time when i learn english on your website
thank you very much

Hi everyone, I am from India and love learning English and a new join in. Before elaborating my take on politeness, I would like to say something about this great language which I think is one of the most important languages the humankind has have been using. I feel that English is popular because of its widely available and ever expanding literature which is rich with content. This language is also truly democratic because it allows different hues to exist within, in response to variations it take in different geopolitical and sociological realities.
Now when it comes to politeness we must realize that every culture and language has its own way to inculcate politeness into its adherents therefore politeness is universal. The English being the "lingua franca" of the modern world would rather make the British way of politeness an universal phenomenon which should be welcomed because it would facilitate the creation of a standard to follow on global platform.
