Hi carnations,

In restaurants and bars we often order food in this way. We can say 'A tomato soup, please' or 'I'll have a coffee, please', for example, using usually uncountable nouns with the indefinite article.

Best wishes,

hi i m new

Thank you for your favour

hi guys , i noticed two expressions.

1) i'm sure it won't be long would it have been the same in he had used " take intead of be"?

2) i thought it was going to be a lot harder: in this expression is "was going to" the future in the past?

I'm new in this webpage, and these videos and their questions are very useful for learning english...thanks to british council!!

Hi.I really don't understand what this sentence infer to "The cook's gone home sick."I know what homesick means.

Hello Hashmi,

This phrase has two basic parts: 'to go home' and 'sick'. What it means is that the cook was at work, but has gone home due to feeling sick. As you know, 'homesick' has a completely different meaning!

Best wishes,

I feel Tristan speaks very fast. I couldn't exactly catch each word he says, but when I looked at the transcript, there's not any new word for me. So I think I need to practise my listening skills through this great programme more times so as to make great progress. Thanks for this wonderful program you created, The LearnEnglish Team. Really great work!

it`s very very useful to adapt in the EL classes

Hi Every all
how are you doing?
