hi everybody! this's the best web-site for learning English!

There is a musician I'd like to meet. He is dead, but he lives in his songs. His name is John Lenon. He's from Liverpool, one of the founding members of 'The Beatles'. He created amazing things, playing rock and popular music. He was born in October 9, in 1940. His first band was 'The Quarrymen', evolved into 'The Beatles' in 1960. Then John Lenon decided to start a solo career and produced his own albums: 'John Lenon/Plastic Ono Band' and 'Imagine'. I admire his music because it is fabulous and deep. it says whatever you do don't worry, let it be. I've got loads of questions to ask. I'd like to talk to him about his music and his life. May be he could give me a piece if advice how to avoid difficulties in this life.

Hello, my name is Nounou,  I'm from Algeria and i would like to tell you about one of the most important festivals in my country named *panafricain festival*, it's an African cultural event  which regroups many countries ,it takes place on july and includes concerts ,showers ,exposures and contests.
Represented disciplines are:music, dance, cinema, literature, theater and visual arts.
The opening day (july 5) means a lot for my people because it coincides with the independence day from French colonization.

Hello! I'd like to tell you about my favorite festival celebrated in our country. I live in Ukraine  and we celebrate a lot of folk and national holidays. On the 7-th of July we celebrate Ivan Kupala's Day or Midsummer Day. Firstly it was timed with the summer soltice and then with the addoption of a Christianity it was timed with the birth of Joan Baptist.
This day is full of rites connected with water, fire and herbs. The binding custom is mass bathing in the river which is clean from evil spirits and full of magic properties. The fire is also a necessary attribute of this festival. People dance around and jump over it.
Believed that people must not sleep this night because all evil spiris wake up: wood goblins, witches, sorcerers, werewolves, mermaids, brownies and others. And the power of fire can drive them avay.
Herbs and flowers picking up this night are very healing. The main plant of this festival is fern. Having the flower of this plant you can find a treasure.

Thanks for this very nice description of holidays in the Ukraine.
Best wishes,
