Dear TheLearning English team,
I do not understand the joke in this postcard.
Please tell me the mean of the dog hating the book.
Thank you.

Hello vietforward,

The idea is not that it's funny that the dog hated the book – it's funny because we don't expect that a dog can read. If he hated the book, that means he had to read it, which is ridiculous and therefore funny.

I hope that helps you understand the joke, though don't worry if not. Humour is different in different places!

All the best,
Kirk

which do I prefer - the book or the film? so, it effectively depends on the stuff. both, books and films, have their pluses and minuses. but personally I think films can evoke stronger emotions due to combination of images, sounds and acting. and as we know, emotions helps poeple to remember things and it can be used e.g. in documentaries, docudramas etc.

Hello everyone :))
This is my opinion about question : “Which do you prefer – the book or the film?”
It depends. But mainly, i like the film more.
Today, the film is more exciting. It has sounds and images which we can't find in books.
Of course, it took me less time.
But some films don't convey enough contents from book.
I like reading science book and no film don't have.

it depens
sometines I prefer read books speacially is a great one, I like films about history of a country.
I think Bob Marley music is great. I like this song " Is this love" anf of course rock music about 80,90 in inglish and spanish too.

"Tafsuth" is a great event celebrated in north Africa, especially in countrysides. It's a kind of big picnic where men and woman, young and old wear traditional costumes, walk along the roads in groups singing popular songs. They welcoming spring this way. They also prepare traditional dishes made with natural ingredients like olive oil, semolina and herbs. It is their manner to give thanks to the nature and pray to have good yield next year.

Thank you. I learned something new about Africa. I like it. I like Africa. One of members of my relatives is from Africa.

Which do you prefer, the book or the film? Honestly, I don't like read book. Sometimes I read books, only for exciting books. But I think I prefer the film. Well, if you watch the film, you can see the real story that you imagine. You can see characters, see the real place, and of course the music. If you listen the animation sound, you'll feel like you're in a real place with the actors. Well, I think it's gonna be so exciting.

It depends ,
Sometimes I prefer the book, especially when it has been written by a good writer. The sensations that a book can gives to us, when we scroll the pages, are unreachable by the films.
But I love the Marvel super heroes, and in that case, I think that the films are better than the books or the comics.
Nowadays, the special effects give us a really images of the action.
We can see our heroes like never before now.
But if you read, for example, the book "IT", by Stephen King, and then you will watch the film...you will not have a doubt about the difference between the book or the film.

Thank you for all, day by day I am trying to improve my English. Have I made any grammar mistakes ?
