Jonathan: Looking at this nice view behind me you'll probably guess that I'm a city person, and you would be right. I was born in a city and I've lived most of my life in a city, I live in a city now, so it's what I know. But having said that, I think I am kind of curious about living in the countryside. I've never done it, but especially when I get stressed or tired of traffic and pollution and crowded places and stuff like that, I often wonder what it would be like to live in the countryside. Yeah, I'm kind of curious.
Jo B: I've lived in cities before, but now I live in the country and I think I'm more of a country person. I like to see lots of sky, I like to be able to have a view of lots of sky. That's what I missed when I was living in the city. And I love the fact I can hang my washing up right, right here, and it just dries in the breeze and in the sunshine.
Jo G: Errr, I'm a city person, definitely. I like the activity, people walking past, beautiful buildings. I like to watch the world go by.
Joanne: So I think I'm more of a countryside person, really. When I was younger, I used to prefer the city, but now I've been living in the countryside about ten years, and I love the peace and quiet here.
Kirk: I usually think of myself as a country person because I like going to the country, I grew up in the country in a small town in a rural place.
Jonathan: So, I think I am a city person but maybe want to be a countryside person.
Kirk: I'd say I'm either a peri-urban person or a country person at heart.
City or country living: which is right for you? In this video, members of the LearnEnglish team tell us whether they prefer living in the city or the country, and why.
There are many differences between city and country life, but what's good for one person might not be so important for another. What's more, we don't always have a choice about where we live, and what's good for you today might not be what you need tomorrow. What do you think?

Hi guys,
I'm Rodrigo, I live in Brazil in a medium sized city called Montes Claros.
I consider myself a city person, I like having the opportunity to choose new places to go and have fun, in addition to the amenities and a certain ease to grow in my career.
But if I could choose, I would choose a big city that has an extensive green area nearby, with mountains, trees and the beach. That once in a while I could go to relax and slow down from the pace of the city.
Hi my name is André i’m city person because i grew up in a city and i like to live with my Family, with my friends and i prefer to stay here playing vedeo games, going to the gym and I've been studying here since I started school and I think that the city has more opportunities than the country
HI guys!
I'm Lisandra from Montes Claros - BR and I think I'm a little bit of both. I love the quiet of countryside but I also love the craziness, all the lights and noises from big cities. Rio de Janeiro is my favorite place in the world (right after my hometown) but I don't think I would live there permanently.
I'm Maria Cecília, I'm from Brazil. I've always been a city person, but I've always liked the countryside, the calm and peace I feel when I'm in contact with nature is wonderful. I intend, in the future, to have the experience of living in the countryside.
Hey guys!

I came to the city to study and work.
My parents are from the countryside, and whenever I can I go visit them.
Hello everyone, I'm from Brazil and I'm a city person but always with a little bit of my heart in the countryside, the city brings me routine and personal and professional growth but the countryside and nature recharge me from all the rush of routine in the city.
i'm a city person because I have more facility in living here in my small town but i like the country side to relax in the weekends.
I'm a city person, because I'm used to the routine and hectic daily life of the city. And also the fact that I've never spent enough time in the field to say I've had a comparable experience.
Hi guys!
I'm Giulia from Brazil, and I'm a city person, but I used to be a country person when I was little. I really love the both experiences, but in my heart I'll always be a country person, having contact with nature and living free like a bird.

Hello everybody! I'm from Brazil, I've always lived in the city, I've never lived in the countryside. I like the hectic style of the big city and the way there's always something new to do. it never gets boring. (I apologize for the English, I'm using a translation app!)
I think I am a city person. I grew up in small town and I really like it, because of silence and calmness. My house is near to forest so I could hear the sound of birds and just breath that amazing fresh air. So I really like my small town, but now I prefer big city. There are more possibilities in the city, you can get better job, you can join different clubs and community, you can grow like a person and like a professional. Sometimes you don't have this opportunity in a town.
Hello everyone, I'm from a small city in Minas Gerais, so I think that I'm a country person, i really like of a calm, and security of small villas, I like the appearance of contructions, colors, flowers, nature, I really guess that this can be produce an interior peace in people. But it not means that i don't like of big citties. I like São Paulo, becouse it's one of the biggest citties, you can do a lot of things in a day, places to know, different restaurants and foods, and a bigger diversity of people, and cultures in one place. Thinking
now, I'm a mix, I really like country and city!
Hi, I'm from Montes Claros- MG in Brazil, I think I am more of a city person, but sometimes when there is to much chaos in the city I like being close to nature so usually I go to the countryside where I can enjoy fresh air and silence.

Hii! I think I'm a city person because I like to see beautiful buildings and visit different places with my friends and my family. But sometimes I'm afraid of the violence in the big cities and miss so much the calm and security town that I used to live.
Hi Im from Brasil and I like the countryside because I like being close to nature. I like the tranquility of the countryside. To avoid the hustle and bustle of city life, everything is calmer in the countryside.
Hi, guys!
I think I'm more a city person, because in the cities there are more opportunities of being close to art, science and culture productions, but I don't like much the rush of the big cities.
I believe I am more of a country person, because I personally like the quiet, the smell of fresh air, the smell of grass. When is dark outside we can see the stars and the moon more clearly than we would if we were in the City.
i am a city person, i love the chaotic air, movement and lots of people together
Hello! My name is Raquel, I have been living in Montes Claros - MG since I was born, so I never lived in the countryside but I really curious about it. I consider myself a city person but I also not a fan of living in big city’s like New York and a lot of those capitals, I’m happy whit a median city, but I also like going on the countryside to relax. However my dream is to live in the beach.
I am a person of the city, despite living in a small town in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, I used to visit my grandmother in the capital and spent a few days at her house so I like big cities. However, I like to be in contact with nature from time to time, so at these times I like to be in the countryside too.
I used to live in the countryside. I was born and raised up in a small village. But I moved to the city at the age of seventeen. So I have been living in the city for around sixteen years. When I was a child, I wondered about living in the city. After having experienced living in the city, I prefer going back to the countryside, which is a calm, sedate, fresh place. Living in the city sometimes makes me feel stressed due to the crowded people, traffic jams, pollution, and hurly-burly city of life. Honestly, I love nature places having green trees, farmlands, rivers, mountains, and beautiful landscapes of villages.
I grew up in the city of Lagos, here in Nigeria. My primary and secondary education was done in the city but I have never liked it here because of the noise and pollution. I am a calm person and enjoy peace and quiet. I enjoy the country side for its vegetations and serenity.

I like country side because I like being close to nature. I enjoy the serenity of country side. To avoid the hustle and bustle of city life I often visit my village. I enjoy gardening, spending time with birds which can only be rejoiced in the country side.
I'm definitely an urban person. I was brought up in Seville, which is a beautiful city (I know it's not so kind telling this), because it's so monumental and cultural place, but its streets also have a traditional soul.
However I love the countryside! Everytime I want to escape I figure out myself doing nothing but watching endless fields
Hi Alecastellano 😊
I've never been to Seville but would love to go there. What time of year would you suggest is the best time to go? And what would you recommend that I try and see when I'm there?
I've been very fortunate and have lived in London and in a very rural area in Italy, and am now living by the seaside! I love them all! I'm really enjoying being by the coast and it is also very accessible to a lively and busy seaside town as well as a short bus ride away to some beautiful walks in the hills.
The only annoying thing is the noise from the seagulls!
Below I've shared a recent photo that I took along the seafront.

Hello!
I'm a country person. I like the countryside because it has a natural fresh air, magnificent sunset, and wonderful mountains which difficult to get to see in the busy city life. Actually, I was born and spend most of my childhood in the countryside but now I'm staying in the city which I don't like very much. But no choice because of my work and I needed to stay here. But I always try to get a country vibe by hiking near the town once a month and running near the lake or in the park. I work hard and try to save money so that when I old, I hope to move to the countryside doing nothing but harvesting the plants and having some cattle.
Hi beauty_Yin 😊
What an amazing photo with all the layers of colours. Would you mind if I asked where it is?
I now live by the seaside and am able to walk daily along the seashore. It gives you such a wonderful feeling. And the sunsets and sunrises are incredible.
It's great that you are able to hike and do some running around the lake or at your nearby park. I do hope your wish comes true and you get to return and live in the countryside again.
