We asked people about memorable trips they've taken. This is what they said.
One summer my wife, three kids and I took a trip to Norway. We spent a week walking 125 km on a pilgrimage route and then another week in a small town. The walking trip was tiring and uncomfortable at times, but was a great bonding experience for us as a family. The other week we explored a different area by car. We visited stave churches, gorgeous mountains and valleys and went on a ferry in a fjord. It was a fantastic trip, definitely one we'll remember for years to come!

The most memorable trip I've ever had was when I hiked the Inca trail and visited Machu Picchu, in Peru. It was a long time ago, but there are a few things I remember vividly to this day. The hike was tough – it took four days and there were a lot of steep hills to go up and down (my legs were aching after day one!). The altitude was another challenge – at around 4,000 metres, we felt breathless a lot of the time. The daytimes were hot, but the nights were really, really cold in our small tent! The most unforgettable experience has to be arriving at Machu Picchu at dawn and seeing the Inca city appearing from out of the mist. It was incredible.

A really memorable trip for me was leaving the UK to live in France. My travelling companion was my boyfriend of the time, and we were both in our early twenties. We packed our whole lives into a small, battered Volkswagen Golf and set off, with friends waving. Goodbye Sheffield! Paris, here we come! It was so exciting. I have an image in my mind of us crossing the Channel on a boat. We were sitting at the back of the ferry, feet hanging down, watching the white wake in the water behind us. It felt like such an adventure – the life I had known disappearing into the horizon, and no idea what was to come.

In 2016 I went to Denmark to visit one of my best friends. She'd moved from Barcelona to Denmark a few years before, and it was great to go and see her new home and to meet her Danish husband and two children. We had a great time exploring her town by bike and taking the children for a day on the beach. I always love going to visit friends and to get an idea of their lifestyle in a different part of the world. I've got really happy memories of that trip!

I took my most memorable trip last summer, when i visited Italy with my mum.In my opinion,Italy is one of the best countries that you can visit as a tourist, because it has absolutely everything, from beatiful nature to deep and thought-provoking historical past.Sea and mountaines are absolutely stunning and people are very friendly.Italian food is delicious, but quite expensive,so take that into account if you want to visit Italy and stay in a hotel that does not provide customers with all-inclusive service. We stayed in a city called ''Rimini" and i can reccomend it.We stayed in Rimini because of its sea,but more importantly, because of its location, since i wanted to visit many historical places. And almost all important historical places are not that far from Rimini and you can just go there by bus.
In 2022, I visited a beautiful city in Belgium. It was a memorable day in my life. The city is Bruges, the jewel of the crown. It is a historical town with many castles and very old houses that belonged to famous people. The architecture of the houses and castles makes you feel like you've travelled back to the last century. There's a long river that flows through the middle of the city. I spent two hours on a little boat, following the sides of Bruges. It is nicknamed the "Second Venice".
In 2012 i take my package and i am going to tetoaun with my friends we was 7 mens we are going in the first time to mountain akchour , and we are slepping there in the tante , everyday we wake up to hear the voice of some bird and we are going to swimming in the riviere the special was the relaxing place we are visiting
Hi everyone,
My sister lives in Norway and she often invites me to visit her. I hope I will find time and I will go on a trip to Norway. My sister shows me a lot of wonderful places on the photos. I'm going to travel there in the winter because I will be to have many weekends and I think the New Year holidays are the best time to spend them with my family and close friends.

Hi Baris!
Well done for leaving us an audio and well done for telling us all about your trip! Don't apologise either for speaking slowly, I could understand you and using this way of practicing your English is a really good way to get more comfortable with hearing yourself use English! Do you have a big family? How many of you go on holiday together?
I've never been to Turkey before ... but would love to ... one day! What would you suggest that I go to see if I get the chance of a holiday there?

In 2024, I went to Sylhet, which is situated in Bangladesh. It was a special trip for me because half of my in-laws’ family joined the tour. We visited two or three places and enjoyed a lot. That was the last full family vacation before I moved to Australia. I miss my country and my family a lot. 😔
My best trip in life was to the Alps with my bike in 2022. I was alone with my tent and traveled from Trieste to Nice crossing the Alps. It was very special because I connected many places that I had visitated in a different way, I crossed 5 states and the days were really really long, always with an amazing light.

A really memorable trip for me was when my wife and I moved to Canada. Initially, my wife and I had a difficult and long flight via the Krakow-Munich-Toronto-Saskatoon route. Our journey lasted about 30 hours. When we stepped off the plane in Saskatoon, we were very tired but filled with emotions. We were excited and happy at the same time. We couldn't believe our dream had come true. I was also impressed by the kindness and caring nature of strangers who helped us. Undoubtedly, I remember this day as one of the best days of my life.
The most memorable trip for me would be when I was about 10 years old and it was my Uncle's wedding at my paternal village. We went there with all the family members getting ready for the big fat Indian wedding via train, enjoying throughout the journey with the delicacies we found on the way. At that time, I loved terrace climbing a lot, its a strange hobby I agree, quite a dangerous one too, but the village buildings were not as far from each other as they are in the cities. So, after reaching, I got to climb out through many terraces along the village and it was really fun. It definitely, can't be possible now that I'm a lot bigger and heavier. P.S. I miss those days.
I love the sound of terrace climbing Rukaiya2024! I'm also probably too heavy to do it ツ but my elder son would love it!
Your journey to the wedding sounds delightful especially the delicacies that you got to eat. I think one of the most memorable experiences I've had was when I went to New Zealand with my husband and we decided to parachute out of a small plane. We did some training and then got all kitted out in the jumpsuit and parachute ... then went up in the plane, the scenery outside the window was incredible. We flew around quite a lot then because it was too windy we weren't able to actually do the parachute jump :( So we had to come back to the airport and because we were travelling to another place the next day, we didn't get to do it! It was a huge disappointment but still an amazing experience!

The one of my memorable trips was in my last vacations in the summer 2023. It was a travel to Rio do Janeiro. One the Biggiest cities in Brazil. l was around 15 days in Rio do Janeiro where have the opportunity of meet new friends moreover of visit well-known places like Cristo redentor, Pao do azucar. Also, His famous beaches how are Coppacabana and Ipanema.
The memorable trip I have ever had was last year to Bogota, it was a holiday trip with a friend, and we were going there to a blockchain and crypto summit. Well the experience was awesome becasuse the learnings and the new friends I met. Also we went to some parties that bring a lot of fun to while we were visiting.
I was in Switzerland with my family last summer and, among other trips and excursions to visit Thun, Lucerne, Bern and Zurich, I had a wonderful experience in Interlaken, which is a cozy and attractive town between two lakes: Thun and Brienz. I went paragling with a pilot, so I was not alone. I was with other people coming from Japan, the USA and other parts of the world. We went by van to the take-off point (about 900 meters high), spread the sail, got prepared wearing all the equipment required: helmet, harness (mine was attached to the pilot's one, for safety reasons), then a bit of run and there...I was flying! A mixture of emotions were in my mind and in my heart: fear, wonder, sense of peace and freedom. All around was only peace and silence: you could hear only the wind from time to time. I can say that fro the following 24 hours I had so much adrenaline going through my body that I fell capable of doing everything! A really memorable experience that I would repeat as soon as possible.
I warmly recommend!
One of my memorable trip was this summer. I visited England and stayed there for 6 weeks. It was an amazing time. I went to an English school and met wonderful people from different countries and made a lot of friends.
I stayed in Bournemouth, but traveled a lot to nearby places. I visited London, Brighton, Winchester and Southhampton. Also I visited the Jurassic coast a wonderful place with beautiful views. In London my dream came true because I visited the Worner Brothers studio tour London and saw magic items.
But one of the best things in this trip was the people who I met. People make this world better and I'm a very lucky person because I met the best people. And I hope to see all my new friends in the future because I miss everyone.
This trip clearly meant a lot to you. Seeing your dream come true and building meaningful friendships is something truly special.
I went to the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine. I travelled there with my mother, cousin, little brother and aunt, and we had a great time together. While there, we hiked in the mountains, collected mushrooms and berries, visited waterfalls, and explored local villages. We also tried traditional Hutsul food. What made the trip truly special was breathtaking views, fresh mountain air, and the warm hospitality of the local people. It was a peaceful escape from the city.
The Carpathians are truly a magical place, and I hope to return there one day to create even more beautiful memories.
The one of my memorable trips when I was in Radomyshl this is city in Ukraine. I did go with my mom and her friends. There is the Radomyshl Castle, and we went on an excursion there. It is ancient and very beautiful. When we were driving the road was very bad, but it was worth it, the castle is very beautiful and there is a lake and beautiful territory near it.
In 2013, I went to Oaxaca City. There, I visited friends in a little town around an hour from the city. It's a fantastic place: many of the people make 'Alebrijes', a wood handcraft with forms of fantastic animals. In the afternoon, people go to the band rehearsal, where many children and teenagers, and some adults, play an instrument and play traditional music. I had the opportunity to join this community and participate with them. The food, I say, is simply delicious.
That must have been exciting; taking part in local activities and such. I'd love to have one where I could join local community making arts.
The one of my memorable trips was when I've travelled to Egypt in 2002 in order to attend a meeting. I was first impressed by the Airlines Company called ''Ethiopian Airlines'', of course without advert. As I said the staff of this company was mervellous with beautiful stewards and receipes. I can't forget also the comfort of the plane with large spaces and exceptional equipment. So, when we reached Egypt, I' ve been also impressed with the tropical climate because it's warm there and this climate is appropriate to go out for parades or shoppings. Although we encounter some problems to exchange with egyptians who spoke in majority in arab language because most of the time, you had to look for somebody to translate it in english, I can't forget also the few days I spent in Egypt. Especially when they organise some convoys to visit pharaohs and sphinx sites. Egyptians are also very welcomed people. In Egypt, you could also see beautiful buildings and hotels.
At least I did some shoppings in handycrafts markets where I bought some souvenirs like shirts, paintings and some other handycrafts I kept also for my borthers ans sisters. If they offer me again the same opportunity, I'd not hesitate to back again there.
Have a nice day.

Last year I went to Cuzco in Peru, I enjoyed that trip because I could visited many places and learn about another culture.
Helo Vanessa, I really wanna visit that place. I have heard awesome stories from friends and I think it would be my next spot to start planning a visit.
