We'll be back with a new topic in the Learning hub next month. We hope you'll join us again then.
My main difficulty in language learning is writing correctly and using the vocabulary and grammar rules appropriately. For this reason, I need to focus my goals on solving these problems, and this lesson was really helpful.
To be honest, I feel that I was used to studying just the things that are comfortable to me, so I spent many hours listening to and reading comfortable papers, besides solving my lacunas, such as writing skills, or expanding my vocabulary. This year, I really want to change this, so I can be able to achieve a C1 level by the end of the year.
Yes, I really enjoyed this topic. It made me think more deeply about my English learning and how important it is to set clear goals instead of studying without a plan.
From this topic, I learned some useful vocabulary and expressions related to goal setting, such as SMART goals and measurable progress. These words helped me better understand how to organise my study time and track my improvement.
I practised several language skills, especially writing and reading, by sharing my ideas and reading comments from other learners. I also practised speaking by thinking about how I would explain my goals aloud. The most challenging part for me was explaining my ideas clearly in English, especially when I wanted to say more complex things.
The most interesting and enjoyable part was seeing how learners from different countries have similar goals and challenges. It was motivating and made me feel less alone in my learning journey.
Thank you for this helpful topic. I’m looking forward to joining the Learning Hub again next month and continuing to improve my English.

My goal for the new year is to speak and understand native speakers without any difficulty.
I am planning to start with talking to at least 3 stranger for 10minutes per week.
They can be my bank agent and apartment manager.
Thank you for the excellent example of how the SMART may look like! I read about this technique a few times, but didn't really get it. All these Specific-Measurable-Achievable and so on looked no more than some words at the screen of my cell phone. Now I see how to integrate the SMART method into my life.
Also, thank you for the opportunity to practice my English. I feel much more confident after participating in the Learning hub topics.

In my opinion all given examples do not suit me. I'm Dutch. I learned English by becoming friends with English people. But now I seldom see them and most of them died. Now I only speak English when English speaking visitors come to the place where I'm a guide. As I detected that my English became more and more 'rusty', I'm searching for way to maintain my English by reading, listening, watching TV and visiting British Council. But my Dutch accent remains terrible.
Hi JFJF,
Thanks for your feedback. It can be difficult to find opportunities to practise speaking, but it sounds as if you are finding other ways to keep up your English.
By the way, I've lived in France for over 20 years but I still have an English accent when speaking French. Little by little I've learned to embrace it. I think that as long as it doesn't hinder understanding, different accents can be really interesting and unique!
I hope to see you again for another Learning hub topic.
Best wishes,

It's an amazing experience where you can learn and start practicing your English skills, it helps you to be more confident, however, you have to go ahead and try, the first step is starting then is to be a discipline and constant person, if you want to be better, you have to work for it.
