Hello Jo,
Thanks so much for your grammar lesson.
It is not easy to remember all modifying comparatives and superlatives that you have taught.
Are they all commonly used? Do you have any suggestions to memorize them?
Thanks for your help.

Hi User_1,

I'm glad that you joined the grammar lesson and I hope it was useful for you.

You can have a look at this page to remind yourself of how to modify comparatives and to practise with some exercises.

https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/grammar/b1-b2-grammar/modifying-comparatives

For the superlatives, I talked about modifying superlatives to show a big difference (using 'by far' and 'easily') and to show that something belongs to a group of the biggest, best etc. (using 'one of' and 'among').

To answer your questions, yes, they are all commonly used. My suggestion to memorise them would be to write your own sentences with them (you don't have to write about animals - you could use any context you like). By putting the language into a context that's relevant to you, it will become more memorable. If you like, you can post some of your sentences on this page - it could also help other users with this grammar point.

I hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Jo (LearnEnglish team)
