Jonathan: Yes, I love watching the World Cup, especially watching national teams that I've never seen play before for the first time. I love that. I've loved the World Cup since I was little. Yep, for sure.
Jo: I'm not a huge football fan. I don't usually watch the Premier League or the Champions League, anything like that. But when it comes to the World Cup, I do usually follow it. I like watching the different teams and the different supporters from all around the world.
Jo: I must say that I don't usually watch a lot of the World Cup. Not really into football. Occasionally I'd watch a final, if it was a country that I was interested in or … no, I'm not really a big football fan. Sorry.
Kirk: I'm not a huge football fan, really, but I do like watching matches and I tend to watch many of the matches from the quarter-finals on. My national team doesn't usually make it that far, so I usually end up supporting the underdogs.
Jo: Yes, I always watch the World Cup. I don't always follow regional teams, but I love the fact that everybody is watching, it's an international thing and you can, you can comment on what's happening with basically anybody that you meet.
Jonathan: Yes, I am watching the Women's World Cup. I'm really enjoying it. I'm trying to watch as many matches as I can, although the time zones make it a bit difficult but, yeah, I'm really enjoying it.
Jo: Unfortunately, I'm going to be on holiday when the Women's World Cup starts this year so I think I'll miss most of the group stage, but I should definitely be able to watch at least the semi-finals and the final.
Kirk: I do think I'll be watching a number of the games, especially from the round of 16 or the quarter-finals onwards. I'll probably be rooting for the underdogs.
Jo: So I am definitely watching the Women's World Cup this month, yes. I think it's really exciting that women's football has finally got the recognition it deserves, and the players are getting the support and recognition they deserve. After the Euros last year, there is a lot of excitement about the England women's team. I think the World Cup this year will be extremely competitive, so really good to watch, and I'm going to be cheering on England. The women's team are actually quite a lot better than the men's team. We might even win, so go Lionesses!

Hi Julieta,
It was a great tournament for Colombia, despite losing in the quarter-finals. It’s a shame about the lack of funding that you mentioned but surely this will change after their great performance this time!
Will you be watching the final on Sunday?
Jonathan

This is a topic a really enjoy, I consider my self a huge football (soccer) fan.
I usually watch the world cup despite the fact my national team is not always in the competition. However, I enjoy watching the world cup with or without my national team, Colombia. I had the chance to go to a world cup and attend a couple of matches and the atmosfere is amazing.
This month I am watching the world cup since the colombian girls have made a good job. Even though my national team was already eliminated from the round of eight, I am still watching the matches. I have to admit that the hours of streaming are not the best (03:00 am) due to the hour zone, but, many people is waking up to cheer up for the team.
Hi alejovilleporto,
Going to a World Cup match is a kind of dream of mine, and I hope to have the opportunity at some point! Where did you attend those matches? I am sure it was an unforgettable experience.

Hi Jonathan,
Yes, it is a dream you must become true.
I went to the World Cup at Brazil, in 2014, those matches were in Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, but I had the chance to go to other cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
It is certainly an unforgettable experience, I hope you can make it to the next World Cup in USA and Canada.
Luis.
Yes, I watch world cup matches frequently. Football is universal game, whatever it's type doesn't matter. But at this FIFA women's world cup I watch very less matches. I am following it because I am sports journalist. But at the same time my team is not there so it is less exciting also.
Hello everyone. I'm a big fan of World Cup. I've watched it since the 2010 World Cup. My team is Mexico but It hasn't advanced to quarter of final.
I've watched a cupple of matches women's World Cup and they play ver well.
I don't have a favourite team because Mexico isn't int this Cup but I will see the final.

I recognize that i have enjoyed this world cup because my team, Colombian team has played very well. Linda Caicedo is one of the most outstanding players.
Hi Mivig22,
The Colombian team is picking up a lot of new fans at this World Cup! Good luck to you and your team! How far do you think they can go?

Hi Sayar Oasis,
That's fair enough. Not everyone is into football and that's fine! Do you like other sports or are you not really into other sports either?

I don't uaually watch all games. I watched an excellent game between Brazil and France. But for sure I will watch the final game and see who will lift the trophy! All good wishes for the Brazilian!
So do I! I usually cheer on the underdog teams for the qualifier and skip right through the semifinals and final.
Hi friends, i am not interrested in games. when i meet those who are used to watch matches i ask them the news, the team wich has won. hahaha
I don't understand this sentence: "But when it comes to the World Cup", what does it mean in? could you please explain it to me. Thank you.
Hello HANNA CHU,
The phrase 'when it comes to' is used when we want to highlight that how we react to a certain thing is different from other similar things. For example, imagine I don't like sport apart from tennis. I might say this:
Here's another example:

Hi Heladodenieve! Thanks for your message – it's great to hear you. So, I'm curious – what's different about this year that makes you want to watch it? And which is your national team? I hope it goes well for them! :)

Hi, I was a fan football in the past but now Im not really into. I must say I think that the World Cup has been malipulated during decades and I have been disappointed. As for the womens, I would like them to shine this World Cup because I have never agreed whit the idea that Football is a exclusive sport for men. Maybe, I'll watching some game this winter.

Football is a world sport. It enhances peace among world countries.
Hello
I am not able to say much on this topic. I just try to write something to practise English. I am not really into football.
In the past, I used to follow the World Cup, but I tended to watch matches from the quarter-finals on. I have not had this habit anymore.
Although I am not watching the Women's World Cup, I agree with Jo about the recognition for women's football and that players are getting the support they deserve.
At the end, have Lionesses won?
