4. Live music

Transcript item

Tina: So I used to love going to live concerts when I was a youngster. So, a long time ago. But, as it happens, I have just been to a concert that I've always wanted to go to. And I went to see Robbie Williams in Sandringham with my sister and niece. Ah, it was the best.

Elena: The last live music I heard was a concert of a famous Italian band. They are Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, and it was in Bologna in Unipol Arena.

Kirk: A chamber music concert performed by young people who'd been working on pieces together for ... well, together for a few days, but practising for who knows how long before that.

Jo: This summer, in my village where I live, there's a musical festival that's Catalan music. And every night of the week for five nights, there's a different concert. [There's a] real variety of classical, modern ... there was one that was with a dance group this year. Fantastic! Everything is really – every night, top quality.

Tina: So the actual venue was Sandringham, which is outside. There was 30,000 people watching this Robbie concert. And everyone knew the songs, they all sang along. He told us about his whole life through the whole industry of 33 years. There were big screens, there was a light show. Honestly, it was just the best. He sang, he held the hand of this woman that was in the audience and sang to her. It was, oh, I don't know how to explain it. I haven't got words for it, but really it was ... it moved me.

Elena: The show was amazing, full of young people, colour and good vibes. And they were so entertaining and so I had a lot of fun.

Kirk: It was impressive what they managed to do and how well they managed to play.

Jo: So this year, because I was working that week, I decided to go to the concert every night of the week. So, for five nights in a row I saw a really great concert right here, just in the square next to my house.

I have only ever been to a live music concert once in my lifetime. It has been a long time, so I don’t remember much. I wish I could go the live performance of my idols one day.

I have the same situation. I really want to go the live performance but my country isn't interesting for big stars.

I haven't had the chance to experience live music yet, but I love listening to it with a crowd who also love same music. I believe it would be a fun and perfectly matched vibe.

The last song I heard live was “Rucon” by a Mexican rapper named Alemán. It was very exciting because he had never heard it live.

The last music I heard was a group of boys playing Caribbean salsa in a restaurant and it's an incredible experience, it makes you feel in the mood and want to dance 💃🏽🕺🏻

Hello Vee3ee,

My son would really enjoy this concert! I imagine I might as well, though to be honest if I listen to soundtracks, it tends to be when I'm working and need to concentrate. Howard Shore's work is great, and I also really like Hans Zimmerman and especially the soundtrack for Interstellar.

Best wishes,
Kirk
