Jo: So I love running. I started running about five or six years ago, I think. As I work at home, I'm sitting down all day. I work online, so it's important for me to start the day with a bit of movement. Today it was very cold. It's minus three degrees here today. So you can see it's a little bit frosty but, still, I had a lovely run. I run with a friend and we did about five kilometres.
Jo: So, to keep fit I do yoga. I go to a yoga class once a week and I also do yoga at home. And I really enjoy doing yoga because it’s good for your physical health – you use all the parts of your body when you do yoga – and it's good for your mental health too, and I find it a really good way to relax.
Kirk: What I like about hiking is just being out in beautiful places. It's something you can do with friends and family and it also doesn't feel like exercise to me, so I really enjoy it.
Neeraj: Hello everybody, I'm Neeraj and today I'm in a dojo, which is a Japanese word for a place where you train martial arts. And this is a, it's not a sport, it's something I've been doing quite a long time, about ten years. And I really like this place because, as you can see behind me, there's lots of beautiful, traditional Japanese art, and you can see behind my left shoulder, we’ve got a suit of armour for a samurai. Very cool stuff. And there's lots of practice weapons as well behind me. This martial art, it's from Japan and it's something that people who used to dress in black – they were called ninjas - also do. So, it's a very interesting martial art. And if you have the chance, I would definitely recommend you try it. Thank you. Bye!
In this video, our British Council colleagues tell us about the kind of sport and exercise they do, and why they enjoy it. Listen to them talking about running, yoga, hiking and ninjutsu.

https://www.speakpipe.com/voice-recorder/msg/rkw75gopm0pdlp81 Have a nice day everyone! I´m Nusly from Honduras, when I was younger and in my first job only men has sport teams and gym, but I worked in HR department I asked for a space to women to do exercise too. We got some trainers to basketball and volleyball, so we stared to train and participate in championships, oh how amazing times. After that, in another job we had ping pong club was amazing also, especially because another units in an international company started to play ping pong, our individual and couple scores were in the intranet and many people follows our championships. On the other hand, “Zumba” in the park of my neighborhood was amazing to exercise, as well, meet new people and see the grandparents with their grandchildren sharing is awesome. Besides, young people men and women playing soccer, talking aloud, laughing and sharing is cool. Well, I had to move and in my new neighborhood many people pass in front my house to jugging and guess? I´m integrated to do exercise with them. Bye for now.

Hi. this is my recording
I do swimming and run.
My name is Lyuba. I like running, especially trailrunning. It is when you run not in the city or stadium, it is when you run using the trails in parks, mountains etc. I have participated in few trailrunning mountains competitions, I have run minimal distances (not more than 10 km), but next time I am going to run near 20 km. I have to train reguraly.
Running in the mountains sounds fun, although it must be quite up and down! I'd like to try it but I need to find a suitable place near me first. I guess you live in or near the mountains? Good luck with your training.
Hi, My name is Per and I from Sweden. I use to run Marathon (totally 15 times), but today my knees are to bad for running. So nowadays I workout several times a week at the gym or do Nordic walking or cycling (when it´s not too cold).
That's a lot of marathons, wow. Do you find that those other exercises are easier on your knees than running?
I love doing several physical activities. For example, I love in-line skating and cycling. But I also do some sports I don't actually enjoy but I think they are good for my health and body. Such as running or bodyweight exercises.
In brazil, the most popular sports is football. There's no doubt about this. In second place, volleyball is practised all around the country, because the brazilian man volleyball team have won three times the olimpic games and the women have won two times. A martial art very popular here is judo ! We gained 24 olimpic medals in this modality , as wich has inspired children and teenagers to trainning it.
I've heard a lot about Brazilian ju-jitsu. Is that the same thing as judo?
It looks like you enjoy paddle-surfing?

HI I AM DHIA
I LIKE FOOT BALL .
Hi, I'm a professional Basketball player in Belgium. And I walk a lot.
Hi, I keep my body fit and mentally refreshed by regularly going jogging. I also take advantage of my nice bike by going cycling when I have free time. Roaming the city on my bike is a source of ultimate pleasure for me. However, the excessive heat during summer days makes it almost impossible to cycle, whereas it is a viable option during the winter.
I really like riding my bike, too -- it makes me feel free to just go off and explore. Like you, though, I don't enjoy it as much when it's very cold or very hot, and sometimes it doesn't feel safe with all the car traffic. I understand that drivers get impatient, but being on a bicycle is a very vulnerable position to be in!
I'm Elisa. I live in Italy.
I like doing sport at home... in my living room.
I like 'low impact home cardio workout' videos on You Tube. They last about 27 minutes; after a cardio workout (for beginners), I start dancing Zumba watching You Tube videos for about 20 minutes. I like Zumba classes. These videos help me burn calories, but above all, they make me feel much better! And I have some fun, too!
Bye for now,
That's great! I tried Zumba once - it's great fun, isn't it? I wasn't very good at it as it takes a lot of coordination. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes, Jo
Hi everyone! I'm MORANY from Morocco, I also like sports, but specially football, martial arts, and riding horses.. I think that sports are important for everyone in every age..
I also think sports are important and I really enjoy taking some time out from my day to do some exercise, although it's hard when I am busy. Horse riding seems very difficult to do. Is it?
Hi, everyone! My name is Assem. I am from Kazakhstan. I like doing exercises at home. When you do sport, you will be able to lose weight and feel cheerful. Sport is important for our health. I would like to dance. Dance is one of the type of the sport.
Hi! I’m Daisuke from Japan. I agree with you about the merits of doing sports. What kind of dance is popular in your country? Japanese traditional dance is Bon Odori (you might find it in YouTube).
