Carla: Hi, Peter. I'm Carla. I'm new here.
Peter: Welcome to the company, Carla.
Carla: Thanks, Peter. I'm happy to be here and it's nice to meet you.
Peter: It's nice to meet you too.
Carla: Where do you work?
Peter: I work in the design team. We sit over there.
Carla: I'm in the marketing team. I started last week.
Peter: You work in marketing? That's very interesting.
Carla: Yes, it is. I'm enjoying it. But there are a lot of new things to learn.
Peter: I'm sure there are. I'm happy to help you if I can.
Carla: Thank you, Peter. What do you do in the design department?
Peter: I design new products.
Carla: That sounds interesting. I plan marketing events for new products. So I think we'll work together sometimes.
Peter: That would be great. So, where are you from, Carla?
Carla: Brazil. And you?
Peter: I'm from the UK.
Carla: How long have you been here?
Peter: I've worked here for three years but I actually moved here from the UK five years ago, to study.
I usually talk about myself as my hometown, school, experience and introduce about my colleagues in the company, after that I will talk about my work in the company. If the newbie is part of my team I will training for them.
When I meet a new team member at work, firstly I introduce myself and ask what their name is. Then I like to know if they are happy with their new job and what are their professional aspiritions in life. In addition to that, I try and give some advice to do our job at best.

When I meet people for the first time when I join a company, I like to talk about their job and what exactly they do. I would ask about their opinions about the company and how their experience was there. And maybe ask about the best food places there.

generally, when I meet someone for the first time, we first talk about our general personal information like name, age, city where we live, educational background, professional career, etc.
We also talk about our interests, and our plans to find common points between us.

Actually, I just sometime talk to people for the first time. I'm a introvert. So, I'm so shy to talk with people like that.
when i joined to new company i like my peers there to help me to know the company very well and i will be happy for awesome welcoming from colleagues in other department
i think in the first time the new employee is ashamed to speck with any one and should the old members in company to give him a hand to involve in work quickly
When I meet new people , I try to know him/her and usually talk about the school or sports like footballs teams or in some other situation talk about movie.
