Jane: Hello, this is the sales department. Jane Solomon speaking.

Peter: Hello, is Maria Fernandez there, please?

Jane: No, I'm sorry. She's not in the office at the moment. She's on her lunch break.

Peter: Oh. Could you take a message, please? Could you tell her that Peter Griffin called?

Jane: Sure. Could you give me your number?

Peter: It's 0-7-4-6-0 double 9-0-1 double 8.

Jane: Thanks. That's 0-7-4-6-0 2-9-0-1-2-8.

Peter: Sorry, no. It's 0-7-4-6-0 9-9-0-1-8-8.

Jane: 9-9-0-1-8-8.

Peter: Yes. Please ask her to call me back, and tell her it's about the PXO project. I need the new project figures.

Jane: The PXO project. Right. I'll give her your message when she comes back to the office.

Peter: Thank you. In case I'm in a meeting when she calls back, can I give you my email address too?

Jane: Of course.

Peter: Great. It's P-E-T-E-R dot G-R-I-F-F-I-N at F-R-E-S-H dot com.

Jane: Can I read that back to you?

Peter: Sure.

Jane: That's P-E-T-E-R dot G-R-I-F-F-I-N at F-R-E-S-H dot com.

Peter: Yes, that's it.

Jane: OK. I'll tell her you called.

I've  never made a phone call in English in my entire life because I don't have friends who speak in English and I  can't communicate with  a stranger confidently as well.

How often do you make phone calls in English?

I don't often make phone calls in English because I'm not confident making phone calls in English. But I also have received some calls from another person. First, I received a call from the employer have an appointment for an interview. Second, I received another call from the employer but she needed to the person have experience in that position so I failed. Third, the scammer called me to talk about something but I didn't understand what he said because I don't speak good English.

I talked on the phone in English many times when I applied for some jobs, and the HR talked with me in English, so I responded to them in English. At that time, my English was not so good, but now I am struggling to improve my English, so in the future, I will gain the confidence to make calls in English. Thanks to the British Council for arranging an interactive learning environment in which we can improve our listening and then writing through comments. Gradually, I will improve all four levels. Indeed.

I haven't had English phone calls yet, but I'm eager to improve. With practice and determination, I'm confident I'll excel in English conversations in the future.

I made a phone call in English once, I hope in the future I've got chances to do so.
