A design presentation

Listen to the presentation about a new product design to practise and improve your listening skills.

Do the preparation task first. Then listen to the audio and do the exercises.

Hi, everyone. Thanks for coming to this short presentation on our new product design. As you know, we've already redeveloped our 'Adventure' shampoo to make it more modern and appealing. And we've renamed it 'Adventure Tech'. Our market research established the target market as men in the 18–40 age range who like to be outdoors and also like technical gadgets, such as smartwatches, drones and things like that. We needed to create a bottle which appeals to that market.

So, today, I'm happy to unveil our new bottle design. As you can see, it's designed to look like a black metal drinking flask, with some digital features printed on it.

I'd like to talk you through the following three points: the key features, sizing and our timeline for production.

Firstly, you'll notice it has an ergonomic design. That means it fits smoothly into your hand and can be easily opened and squeezed using one hand. And, it looks like a flask you might use when hiking outdoors. The imitation digital displays are designed to remind the user of other tech devices they may have, such as a smartwatch or smart displays in their home.

I'd now like to tell you about the sizes. It comes in two sizes: the regular size and a small travel size. The travel size is the same type of design – a flask, also with imitation digital displays on the bottle. We were thinking of starting with one and following with the travel-size in a few months, but we've worked hard and both are ready now.

Finally, I'm going to talk to you about our timeline for production. You've probably heard that we're launching in two months. In preparation for that, we're starting the marketing campaign next month. You can see the complete overview of all phases in this Gantt chart.

In summary, the bottle's been designed for men who like adventure and technology, and it comes in two sizes. The marketing campaign is starting next month and we're launching the product in two months.

OK. So, any questions? Feel free to also email me for further information in case we run out of time.

The last presentation I did was at my old job where I was working as a trainer, it was done better than I had expected. Our topic was entitled '5S method', where I showed them the main concept of this method and how it can help us in our tasks when we apply it in the right way.

The last presentation I gave was about my role in my organization. I am enrolled in a business communication course and course facilitator gave 5 minutes for presentation. Earlier he introduced adult learning theory and asked us organise our presentation according to it. My presentation went well. Course facilitator advises me to work hard to improve pronunciation. Thanks.

Well....I think the last time I had to give a presentation was 3 months ago and it was about the deployment of the new version of windows OS in the labs machines located in some classrooms at my work, the presentation included a short explanation about the phases of the project and the different tasks needed to do in order to achieve the deadline expected before the start of the semester. I made a brief introduction and shorts descriptions of whom have to do what and the main goal, at the end some colleagues made some questions and luckily all went smoothly good and now all is working as it was expected.

Thanks for the lesson.
Great site!

It's been quite long when I had a presentation at my previous workplace. I tackled about medication. One thing that is complicated is gathering information about your presentation. You have to do some research, in addition to the interviews for the validation.

Rigth , In mi case my last presentation were yesterday in the health field showing the benefits and good results to avoid the cancer expensive treatments or medicatión. finally i did well in mi job , but not always people is convinced about the natural benefits, they had been so saturated with information where convenience abounds.

The last time I had to give a presentation was about two years ago. I can't remember exactly but it was about the history of Android programming language. It was actually the presentation to practice Japanese speaking skill so I was crazy open and tried my best for it. Although I knew that people probably don't understand what I was saying, but it was good memory for me.

I can remember exactly the last time I had to give a presentation was 3 weeks ago. I'm currently studying Marketing subject in university and my teacher required us to present about it, be more precise the presentation is about Promotion that is one of the strategy 4P. We prepared and looked into too much knowledge about the area that we were assigned. The presentation seems not smooth, I was the first to start the presentation. but my microphone is by accident an errored. The teacher has blamed me because I wasn't a good presentation. So, my team has a not good score.

My last presentation had been about teenage pregnancy in 2019 when I was on my 8° grade of school. It had gone appealing since that was a overtalked topic in Brazil, so we could demonstrate how do they must take care of themselves for avoiding pregnancy way sooner.

Hello, great listening lesson. However, I have a question: Is it correct to say: "Do you have any further questions"? Or "Do you have any further question"? Or "Do you have any other further questions"? Instead of: "Do you have any questions"? Could you help me with that issue, please?

Hi GiulianaAndy,

Yes! In this sentence, any can mean 'it does not matter which kind of question', and it can be used with singular or plural countable nouns (and uncountable nouns too). Have a look at this page from the Cambridge Dictionary for a fuller explanation.

About Do you have any other further questions?, this would be used to follow one of your first two questions - i.e., this wouldn't be the first thing you ask (because if you ask if there are any other further questions, it assumes that there has already been at least one further question).

I have also a short question to you. I wonder Can we say 'a few months later' instead of 'in a few months' ? (alternatively)

Hello ece_00,

These are not quite used in the same way.

In a few months is used only in reference to the time of speaking. It often functions as a kind of promise or prediction. For example:

I took my exam today. In a few months I'll get my results.

I'll call you in a few months. [a few months in the future from now]

He said he would do it in a few months. [a few months in the future from when he spoke]

A few months later is used to describe one time in reference to another. It links one point in time (one action) to another. It is not used when the current moment is the point of reference. For example:

She took her exams and a few months later she got her results.

We met at Christmas and a few months later she called me.

She promised to do it but a few months later I learned that she had forgotten about it completely.

I last gave a presentation in April of this year which was for the New Trends in International Business Management course from my university. It was about how to export a product abroad. I had to explain how many incomes I was going to get because of that export process. I think it did go not so bad because I got a 16 as my grade which means that my homework was not bad but not so good either.

I had the presentation 3 months ago in advance. It was discussed about my assignment and project which I had assign for course related with Web development in college. Fortunately, the person taught the course and discussed with me is the same person, which means usually, they are not always the same depending on the circumstances. The phase went effortlessly, since the tutor could comprehend all the things I said and taught me beforehand. As a result, the discuss was fluently but somehow, I also need to fix some aspects form my assignment to ensure it will get the "pass".

Secondly, I was received a number of question which I also gave clearly answers. Almost people satisfied all the requirements for my jobs. I gave a presentation six years ago when I was studying at University. I had to teach about medieval art with photos I have taken from a little village in the north of spain. At the begining of the speech I was really nervous, but in the midle of the conversation someone asked me something really interesting and after answering him I was able to speak with more confident. I hate speaking in public because I tend to stutter.

I had to give my degree's final project presentation a few years ago. It was about an Android application that I had developed; a game designed for people with cognitive disorders using a Sphero 2.0. I was really proud of myself and so was my tutor, the jury liked the whole work, from the idea of the project to the way I presented it. Surprisingly, I've never been as confident as I was that day. All the anxiety and stress had disappeared and turned into enthusiasm and confidence.

I think it was one and half year ago for one my last courses in the university. It was a team presentation and we had to talk about our final project. The project consisted of developing a simple automation process using our knowledge of the subject acquired along the course. It was good, every team member got to talk about a specific part of the project. At the end, we got a good grade

The last time I gave a presentation was five months ago. I had to present my TFG to my university tutor by Skype. For those who aren´t Spanish, TFG means "final degree project". At first I was a little bit nervous because it is an important project for us, which takes about four months to do it. But everything went fluent when I started, and finally, my tutor really appreciated my hard work. I ended up my degree with an excelent grade (9 out of 10). Cheers from Madrid.

For my last public presentation, I was invited by our school research unit to be the resource speaker in their "A Day with A Scientist" program to speak about my undergraduate study. Although I was informed a month earlier than the date of presentation, I was not able to prepare for it properly due to the heavy load of my work. So as a result, I did not feel like I presented properly. However, many students came to me to tell me that I did well during that presentation, and asked me about my study.

I did it some years ago due to my study stuff at University in Germany. It was been an appealing presentation because of the group work. Every member of the group had worked on their separated part, and my bulk of the presentation was that I have to unveil the entire project. It was difficult to present to the audience because there were in the hall twenty-five person, I guessed. At the end was a discussion phase, and we got a wide range of questions by audiences, finally, we came up with our responses to inquires. When I remember this time, I feel that I would say life has been flying.
