Notes at work

I have just been graduated from University. So, before I used to send a text message for people instead of leave notes. But now, I work in the office and I start leave notes for people in my office. I think we should send a text message for people who we are not sure them return to the office that day. If I were sure that them return to the office that day, I would leave a note for them. Anyway, leaving a note or sending a text message, the ultimate goal is the recipient knows the information when they're not there. So, you can choose either.
