In this video, Noelia gets good news and bad news. Listen to the language Yuna uses to respond to Noelia's news and practise saying the useful phrases.

Ana: Hi! I'm Ana. Welcome to What to Say

Do you know what to say when you respond to news? Listen out for useful language for responding to news. Then, we'll practise saying the new phrases – after this.

 

Noelia: Yes, yes, yes. Ah, I did it! 

Yuna: Good news, then? 

Noelia: Yes! I won the award!

Yuna: Oh wow! Congratulations! 

Noelia: Thank you! It's so exciting. I can't believe it!  

Yuna: I know! That's wonderful! Well done, Noelia. I'm really pleased for you. 

Noelia: WHAT? You cannot be serious!

Yuna: Oh dear. What's happened?  

Noelia: They sent me the wrong email. I didn't win. Someone else won.

Yuna: Oh no, that's awful!

Noelia: Yes. It. Is.

Yuna: I'm so sorry, Noelia. What a shame. Can I do anything to help?

Noelia: Please pass me that magazine. Thanks.

 

Ana: Hello again! Oh, poor Noelia! That's really disappointing. So, did you notice the useful phrases used for responding to news? Listen to me and then repeat. 

 

Oh wow! Congratulations!

I can't believe it.

That's wonderful!

Well done. I'm really pleased for you.

Oh dear. What's happened?

Oh no, that's awful.

I'm so sorry.

What a shame.

Hello yes yesterday a massage was come to me by My English course that I passed the intermediate level and forward to start upar intermediate level. it made me happy.

I have been waiting for my onbaording letter since long time.Out of  no where ,My Freind told me that we received a mail to fill the survey for onboarding .In that they mentioned they are going to onbaord  us in within 2 months.I was on cloud 9 after hearing that news.

i usually revieve bad news from my english score not anything else however i  work on myself more than before.

I received good and bad news every single day, sometimes bad news come more often. Honestly that's makes me stressed but I'm trying to always have positive thinking and never over react again. I'm just hope for the next days good news come often.

Yes, I have. I received an email from ASE administration informing me that I have been selected for Predoc programs. My brother was really pleased for me, and congratulated me. That was wonderful!

No, I don't. But I can remember the time I received an email from the director of the AMSE saying that I receive the entry test for their university. I was very joyful that day and I can see the pride on my parents faces. That was wonderful.

Have you had any good news recently?

Yes, last month my child had received her school score A, at first I didn't believe this, but I was very pleased to her.
so I said her to congratulate.
