A thank-you email

Learn how to write a thank-you email.

Do the preparation task first. Then read the text and tips and do the exercises.

Reading text


  1. Start with Hi if it is an informal email to someone you know.
  2. The email can have three main paragraphs:
    • the reason for writing (= to say thank you)
    • the main point (= more details or examples)
    • a wish or offer for the future.
  3. Use emojis (e.g. smiley) or emoticons (e.g. :) ) to show you’re joking.
  4. You can say See you soon / See you next year if you hope to meet again.
  5. Use a closing phrase like Keep in touch, Write soon, Speak soon or Take care.

I enjoy spending a holiday with a host family and I would prefer that will be an enlish speaking family in any country because that helps me to improve my english and make me to save a lot of money because the travel fees are so expensive !!!

Yes, I would like to stay with a new family as a host in the near future when I am going to travel an English country because it will be a great opportunity to understand a new culture very closely as well as get a chance to taste there home made foods. Yes, of course! Although I am afraid of new people , I still love knowing of different cultures. I can also improve my English skills by practising with them. So I think it's a great way to learn English.
