Can you believe it? Someone in another group asked me to write some pages of their website in English and French. But they can't pay because 'I'm starting this business with no money.' He said he's a professional photographer and he can do some photos for me instead. Am I wrong to be angry?

Asher87

Nope! I’d be angry too

JayCee99

I can't help but here's the link to a friend's website. He is a French–English writer and translator www.franco-anglo-translations.com/About

Carla62

Er … asking people to work for free … not cool!

Asher87

^^^ This!

JayCee99

Oops! I thought you were looking for someone. Sorry for the misunderstanding smiley

Carla62

I can't pay my rent with photographs, sorry

Katie20

Exactly!

Mylo45

True, but professional photos cost a lot of money, especially if you're getting married. Sorry I don't speak French or I would do it cheeky

Katie20

Here's a link to his photography if anyone wants the job www.billsphoto.com/portfolio As you can see the website needs some work … wink

Carla62

@Mylo45 Maybe, but people always ask writers to work for free #PayMe

Katie20

Yep, if I need photos OK but I prefer to get paid with money

Tips

1. Writing in online forums is more like speaking.

2. You don’t have to put full stops (.) at the end of sentences.

3. Use ^^^ to show you’re talking about the post above yours.

4. Use @ and a person’s name to show clearly who you’re replying to.

5. You can use emojis.  cool

6. Stay calm and be polite. Some people get angry in online discussions but try to avoid that.

I rarely join many discussion forums. Maybe when I was a teenager, I did, but I don't really remember. Because at that time I was still young, I wanted to express myself; all attention was on me. As I get older, I realize that discussion forums are pointless, a waste of my time, and that I should focus on myself and the people I care about.

I believe online discussions can be a catalyst for positive change. When we come together to share our experiences and ideas, we have the potential to spark movements and drive social progress.

I like to have forum discussions when the subject is familiar to me. I prefer conversation where I can learn something. I rarely join discussions where the debate is about everyday life topics.

Hello,
May anyone comment on this. Can I say: a lower than as was anticipated ?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Katrina_M,

A couple of corrections are needed. If you include "a", then add a noun, e.g. a lower level or a lower temperature. Also, delete "as". All together, it should be: a lower (noun) than was anticipated.

If you don't want to include a noun, then delete "a": lower than was anticipated.

I hope that helps!

To tell the truth, I don't like to waste my time on any discussion. because many of them go nowhere and only drain my mental energy while this energy can be made to move forward. As a matter of fact, I believe that this world has the capability of having any kind of idea and attitude. therefore, there is no need to fight or discuss anything. The best way to live with each other is to live and let live.
we can set our wishes without any conflict or discussion if we set our teeth.

well, in my opinion, discussion in a forum is a perfect way to gain your critical thinking skills. Open your mind and be comfortable receiving different opinions and respect that.

I did not yet but I am looking forward to discussing the forum. I fancy sharing opinions with each other.
