Hello, dear teachers and team!

Could you please help me with the following:

If it takes me one hour to get to a certain neighbourhood and the same amount of time to get from that neighbourhood, could I say:

"It is one hour in one direction, and one hour - in the other direction. "

Does that sound correct and natural? Or has it to be another?

Thank you so much for your constant help and I'm very grateful for answering to this post beforehand!

Hello howtosay_,

I'd probably say 'It's one hour each way' or 'It's one hour there and one hour back', but what you said is also quite clear.

If I wanted to be very clear, I'd say 'It's one hour there and one hour back -- two hours round trip'.

All the best,
Kirk

There is a road in front of my neighborhood. There are mang cars and perople in the rush hours. But there is no crossing between two streets, so it is very chaotic. Fortunately, we have broad pavements it can accommodate many pedestrians.

My neighborhood is quite crowded. There is a square with a lot of restaurants and cafes around it. Next to my flat, there is a crossroads with traffic lights, a crossing, and a light road. Moreover, the bus stop and subway station are quite close here.

Near my house, I can see a lot of street lights, traffic lights and there are also pavements where the people can walk. Unfortunately, the traffic in my city is a big problem, because there aren't many roundabouts and the crossroads are always full of cars, buses and other types of vehicles. From my house I also see a parking, that is located near the supermarket.

The traffic in my country is complicated, almost nobody is comply with the laws of traffic. They usually ride bicycles or motorists on the pavement which is only for the walker. When traffic lights are still red they are gone already, such situations are very dangerous. They don't take their time. And they don't interested in the safety of other people. The pavement is a place of business and parking. I feel afraid when I have to go to work every day. Currently, I hope the traffic situation improves better.
