About 200 metres north my home there is a crossroads, signposts, and crossing. If you are looking for a bus, then go west crossroads approximately 500 metres you will find a bus stop right there next roundabout. You should be vigilant when you are there to protect yourself from accidence because it's a rush hour.

in my city, I can see a lot of roads, crossroads with signposts for people in my city find it easy to go when they don't know, the traffic lights are always lighted up to ensure everybody's safety in the city, in the evening street lights will be lighted up to light the roads, they also are located on the corners of the city. It has a lots roundabouts to turn into the different roads to get home or work quickly, like that. In my city, the traffic is so heavy, especially in rush hours, so it makes some difficulties for many people cross the roads. In the morning, if you get my city, you can see many people walk along the pavements for doing exercises. By the way, because of the traffic jams so lots of the police officer always stand at the traffic lights, crossroads to guide and direct the vehicles and transports. I have never seen any square in my city where I am living but I will find out more and will have a visit it in the future >

It is better to go by metro. Sometimes, I can see they plan the beautiful flower at roundabout, it make city look nice. I like to take a walk and the drivers are so polite to stop in front of crossing so I can cross easily.

But there is no such thing as crossing in my small city and no traffic lights. And in my childhood, my friends and I use to play on pavement which is along the side of our nearby road. And there are signposts.

In the city that I live in you can see a lot of roundabouts. Actually it is som policy that began in Norway from twenty years ago. They think that in this way can control accidents more than before. Learning how to drive in these rods for me was not so easy at first, but little by little I become more familiar with the rules and now I like it very much.

I am living in a middle class community surrounded by safe neighbors. My city is very spacious and roads are wide enough to handle ongoing traffics. We have many roundabouts than traffic lights which make driving safe. Each and every road has designated pavement area for pedestrians. Most of the dark corners in city covered by street lights which illuminate during night time. Our city has complicated but convenient public transport system which also provide late night service. In the center of the city we have large square where people meet after their working hours to relax and chat about their social life. The most important thing I like about my city is, people are friendly and welcoming.

Does the word "crossroads" have singular ? In addition, which sentence below is correct? 1) Kids are playing on the street. or Kids are playing in the street. 2) Local council decides to put some traffic lights and crossings on the road. or Local council decides to put traffic a few lights and crossings on the road.

Hello wcyam10

A 'crossroad' and a 'crossroads' are two different (though related) things. The second of those two words has the same form in the singular and plural. The first one has no final 's' in the singular, but does in the plural. The context should usually make it clear which meaning is intended.

For the first sentence, I would say 'on', but 'in' is also correct. As for the second sentence, the first one is better, though you should say 'The local council' instead of 'Local council'.

All the best

I am staying in an apartment with my parents in a city. Many years ago, there were no traffic lights on the crossroads infront of our apartment. The traffic condition in this area was very bad especially in the morning when everyone was rushing to go to work. In addition, the street lights were in the poor stage where most of the bulbs were damaged . Consequently, pedestrians were at risk and there were many reported accidents especially at night. Last year, local council decided to put roundabout at the end of the road , traffic lights at the crossroads and crossings on the roads for the pedestrians. These have tremendously addressed the traffic problems. Furthermore, the road is furnished with new street lights and pavement. Hence, it is safer for pedestrians to cross the road now.
